Nordstrom Beauty Exclusives Under $50

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is in full swing! I know I said in my first shopping post that I didn’t think the selection was as good as last year but I have to admit, the more I browse online and in-store, the more gems I find!I’ve spent more time (and money) on buying new clothes and shoes during the sale because I hate paying full-price for clothes and I rarely go on shopping sprees the rest of the year. That said, beauty is not at the top of my wish list (ah, the perils of being a beauty blogger when you primarily get free samples). I did splurge on this cheek palette but other than that, I’m going to be very selective if I decide to purchase any beauty products. I tried to keep budget in mind for this roundup.

#Shelfie: New Skincare Musts

Here’s to the old, here’s to the new. The thing I love about skincare is that there is literally a product for everything. And I’m a big believer in trying a bunch of formulations before committing (commit issues? Clearly. ).

Weekly Must-Have: Allies Of Skin Molecular Saviour Toner Mist

During the dog days of summer, certain things are needed for survival: sunscreen, water, deodorant, rosé, and face mist top the list.   Why the last one, you ask?  Because you’ll be hard-pressed to find anything quite as refreshing (next to a dip into a cold pool), which isn’t exactly attainable on a random steamy Tuesday morning when you need to cool down after a particularly muggy subway ride. To be fair, most mists felt largely equal before I encountered Allies of Skin Molecular Saviour Toner Mist.   I previously rotated through a variety of perfectly acceptable rosewater or hydrating mists that got the job done, but weren’t exactly anything special; they just felt nice and were pleasant to use.

Bastille Day Bests: Must-Have French Beauty Products

To celebrate Bastille Day (this Saturday), I thought I’d put together a list of my current favorite french beauty finds. My first round-up, 10 French Pharmacy Beauty Finds, was written several years ago after a trip to Paris, and many of the products on that list I still covet and adore. As luck would have it, I just returned from another jaunt to Paris where I was fortunate enough to peruse the beautiful aisles of those magnificent french pharmacies. But this go-around, I noticed that (most) everything they sell in France is actually available online.

The List: Products To Fight The Inevitable Summer Frizz

Summer has arrived in full force, bringing with it the usual heat woes. Controlling sweat, shine, and sun exposure are all major undertakings, but keeping frizzy hair in check is perhaps the most frustrating. There are countless products promising sleek and soft locks, but on the most humid of days, we all know our mane isn’t afraid to take charge and do whatever it so desires. 1.

Banter Babe: Actress Laine Neil

What’s your beauty vibe? My beauty vibe is definitely classic and relaxed. I like to keep my makeup minimal and natural most of the time, with the occasional red/orange lip or cat eye. But generally, if I do that, I keep the rest simple and let that be the statement. What’s the first beauty product you owned and loved? When I was in sixth grade, I bought a tube of bright turquoise eyeliner from MAC.

In The Buff: Acne-Safe Foundations

Acne-prone skin sufferers (raises hand) can fake a flawless complexion with makeup (thank G-d), but we don’t want our makeup making our complexion worse: i. e. causing breakouts under the coverage. That’s why the foundation formulation is so crucial.
