DIY Brightening Body Oil

I’m having a major love affair with oils lately. I’ve researched all of them — carrier oils, essential oils, which oils are best for which skin types and concerns. I’m like an oil master, mixing my way through an endless array of face and body concoctions. Today I want to focus on one of my favorites: the brightening (and anti-aging!) body oil.

Lashes & Luminosity With Kathleen Hou

Kathleen is as passionate about beauty as I am so her studio visit turned into a late night makeup party! We tested products, debated new formula innovations and chatted for hours about the beauty industry. One of our conclusions; Burberry is the most underrated of the beauty brands. Their Fresh Glow Gel Stick and Luminous Fluid Base are so good (see above)! I am also a big fan of their Face Contour Pen and Lip Color Contour. When it came time to do Kathleen’s lovely face, I wanted to do a look she hadn’t tried before – always tough with beauty editors because they try everything! I used a shimmery teal cream to create an exaggerated cat eye (this style works particularly well on almond eye shapes) and then added Dark Swan of Denmark’s incredible fluffy lashes.

#Shelfie: Casey Sharbaugh

“I’ve always cared a lot about skincare and beauty products in general; I blame my mom. I have vivid memories of sitting on the toilet in her bathroom playing with tubes of Chanel lipstick while she washed her face with Erno Lazlo bar soap using their splashing method. She was also the one who got me to start using Biologique Recherche P50, my ultimate holy grail, desert island product.   I’m still as committed to this potion as I was in my original review years ago.

Weekly Must-Have: Londontown Lakur

For whatever reason, I feel completely ungroomed if my nail beds are bare. I truly don’t mind it on other people, and I often even notice nicely buffed bare nails on friends, but I, personally, can’t stand having unpainted fingertips. What bothers me the most, however, is chipped nails. This causes such deep-seated anxiety that I keep nail polish remover pads in my desk drawer at work.

Summer’s Sexiest Hairstyle

Sun, sea, chlorine — who has time for full hair and makeup during summer months? Both we still want to look done up without actually having to do ourselves up. So we asked TRESemmé Stylist, John D, who works with celebs like Greta Gerwig and Evan Rachel Wood (he tamed both ladies tresses for the Met Ball last week), for the sexiest — and easiest — summer hairstyle for all hair types that everyone can achieve in minutes. “Probably the easiest summer hair that is always in style is… a ponytail! Pony’s are classic and fun. And a great way to get hair off of your neck during hot summer days,” explains John.

1960’s Ingenue… Lilliya Scarlett

Lilliya’s skin is so good that using foundation is practically a crime! Instead, I mixed a tiny bit of concealer into moisturizer to create the world’s sheerest base – more of a dewy tint than any actual coverage. Then I dotted the same concealer (NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer) over any areas with redness. Note: The color in her eyelid crease and cheeks was created using the same product, the Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Color Stick in Blush N24. .
