Brooke Candy

Brooke did not disappoint. It was such a pleasure having her in the studio, our whole team fell in love. She is not only incredibly creative and inspiring to work with but also a genuine, kind, thoughtful woman who is going through a sort of personal renaissance. Her music is evolving, her image is evolving, she is evolving and it’s an exciting thing to see.

I Know You Think Online Friend-Searching Is Weird, So I Tried It For You

It must be that I’ve been binging on one too many Broad City reruns, but I recently felt like Ilana without an Abbi. Or maybe it was the Sex & The City anger-watching session I had the other day: While horrified by Carrie mocking Berger for the scrunchie appearance in his novel, I was also jealous of the unwavering camaraderie between her and her three gal pals. Noticing all these unwelcome and unanticipated emotions, I couldn’t help but wonder… Do I need more friends?First thing’s first: I do have friends. Real human ones.

Oribe’s The Red Lipstick

I have spent a large part of my adult life, and some of my teen life too, searching for the modern day version of the holy grail: the perfect red lipstick. In my dream world, the ideal red lipstick is a creamy formulation that isn’t glossy, but not exactly matte, hydrating but not heavy, pigmented but not able to be seen from outer space – basically, a needle in a haystack. The hair master, Cuban-born Oribe, just launched a trio of lip crèmes, and I have to say, his The Red creation is the closest thing to the perfect red I’ve been able to find. The texture is silky and fine, and doesn’t feel like you’re coating your lips in paint like other lipsticks.

Beauty DIYs That Celebs Swear By

Here at Beauty Banter, we’re suckers for DIYs and beauty hacks, especially ones that work. It’s almost painful to sing the praises of coconut oil…but, there’s a reason so many celebs douse themselves in it: it really works! Everyone from #hairenvy Khloé Kardashian and VS models Miranda Kerr and Candice Swanepoel credit coconut oil hair masks for their gorgeous manes. Miranda also says that she’s used apple cidar vinegar to rinse her hair to shiny perfection. Fellow VS angel Lily Aldridge mixes coconut oil with brown sugar for a sweet body scrub.

Ingredient Lowdown Series: The Truth About Hyaluronic Acid

As early as age six, my mom and I DIYed beauty treatments in the kitchen, creating honey masks and salt scrubs (might I add, before it became mainstream and trendy… just sayin’). I still love a nostalgic at-home steam and facial, but I’ve graduated to more science-y solutions recently because let’s be real, I don’t have the same skin as when I was six.  These days, I’m all for retinol, peptides and vitamin C. Admittedly, though, it did take me a minute to get into acids — mainly because the word “acid” sounds really intimidating (wasn’t it the weapon of choice for someone super villainous in Batman?).

5 Lip Paints That Actually Stay Put

Nothing is more annoying than lipstick smudges. Well, maybe uneven eyeliner (am I right?), but lip prints that end up on our coffee cups and collars by noon is up there in the annoying factor. Alas, the hunt for a lipstick that truly outlasts a make out sesh is over. Beauty Banter tested some of the most popular lip paints on the market so you won’t have to.

The Do’s & Don’ts Of Microneedling

Back in the day, Angelina Jolie incited a frenzy within the beauty community when she gave props to derma rolling, also known as microneedling, as a beneficial at-home anti-aging treatment. The only place you could purchase this illusive contraption was on Amazon (or spend hundreds of dollars for an in-office procedure), but the needles could make any girl a bit squeamish, especially considering you were supposed to roll them onto your own face. A couple of years later and beauty brands have effectively launched safer, less scary microneedling devices — but do they work? Is this really something we should be doing? Rolling tiny needles all over our face at home?As it turns out, yes, yes we should.   The claims are true.

Tom Ford S/S 2017… Tyrie Rudolph

Everything in the Spring and Summer collections is gorgeous but it is the new blush and bronzer shades that I am the most interested in.  It’s been a while since blush was in the spotlight (thanks to the endless taupe contour trend) but nothing brightens up your face and says “hello warmer weather” like cheek color.  There are both cream blushes (Spring) and powders (Summer) in shades that suit a wide range of complexions. Also noteworthy, there are two new shades of one of my all time favorite Tom Ford products, Cream and Powder Eye Color.
