Trending: Metallic Lipstick

Forget florals and pastels for spring because, groundbreaking, right? The lipstick trend we’re seeing everywhere, and foresee we’ll be wearing until summer is metallic. Trend-setting it-girl Kylie Jenner made a case for the trend early last year when she released the Metals, three metal matte lip shades, added to her cosmetics line. Kylie and big sis Khloé have been sporting metallic pout’s ever since, and as always, other celebs have followed suit. For spring, some of our favorite brands are launching lipsticks in metal finishes, like Urban Decay and Tom Ford, whose newest launch of lip colors includes 5 metallic shades.

Link Love: Don’t Be Pushed By Your Problems

And so another long work week ends and the weekend begins. I stumbled upon this quote on Pinterest and thought it’s a nice reminder about why I do what I do (or why you do what you do). I don’t want to be motivated by something negative in my life, I want to succeed because it produces something positive. I’d love to know, what motivates you to achieve your dreams?Oh you know, just sitting here lusting over the details at the Chanel Couture Spring 2017 collection.

From Sugar To Smoking To Stress, How To Atone For Your Beauty Sins

Can I just say that exercising sucks? I know that it’s a way of life for a lot of women, and that’s awesome. But that’s not me (although I know I’m missing out on the detoxifying and stress-relieving benefits of a good sweat session). We all have our bad habits, whether it’s always saying yes to cake, binge-watching Jessica Jones til 3AM, or hitting happy hour more than a few times a week. It’s all good, but the effects on our skin can linger far longer than any of the fleeting fun we have in the moment.

Women’s March Exceeds Expectations–Women Share What It All Means, Part I

As I speed-walked through the masses on Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles, a sonic roar swelled from Pershing Square and reverberated for blocks. I got as far as one block from the center of the protest at the perfect moment—a band of bad-ass women on motorcycles leading the march toward City Hall, slowly cruising through the hundreds of thousands of women, men, and children. The epic screams made sold-out crowds in the Rose Bowl, Wembley Stadium, and Madison Square Garden combined sound like whispers. No wonder—turns out we were about 750,000 strong—just in Los Angeles—and millions more throughout the country and all over the world (Antarctica included).

Atomic #47… Nicole Zimmermann

Note: The scientific symbol for silver is Ag, it’s atomic number is 47, it has 61 neutrons and a cubic crystal structure. Hence the somewhat obscure title of this post. Note: I didn’t list the bottom lashes in the product section because I haven’t been able to source them online. They are by a Japanese brand that doesn’t seem to sell in the US.

Extra Moisture In Winter = Extra Happy Skin

I will be the first to admit that I’m a bit of a skincare junkie, even more so now that I just turned 30. I’m constantly on the lookout for the latest serum, oil or cleanser that will give my skin an extra boost of moisture so I can keep a youthful, glowing complexion. The best new ‘boost’ I’ve found this year is Peter Thomas Roth’s Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Serum. The super serum consists of 75% hyaluronic acid, which is the highest density I’ve seen recently, along with sea algae, honey and yerba santa.

2017 Blush Trends With Vanessa Scali

“Vibrant, bold, meant-to-be-seen blush was prominent on the runways for spring and it was worn ’80s-style,” explains celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali, who paints the pretty faces of celebrities like Anna Kendrick and Christina Hendricks. “Up the cheekbones, toward the eyes, and continuing onto the lid. In some cases, color was used all over the lid, the eyebrow, or on both. But either way, it had that distinct color draping, ’80s effect.
